Day 1: Mikkira Station & Kangaluna camp

from the coast to the outback

Depart Adelaide Airport with Qantas Airlines arriving at Port Lincoln 08:45 to be met by your tour leader.

Koala Mikkira Station, Port Lincoln, SA

Visit a colony of wild koalas at Mikkira Station near Port Lincoln before travelling through farming land to Wudinna, population 600, stopping for lunch along the way.

You will pass Wudinna Rock as we travel into the outback to Kangaluna Camp. After a rest at Kangaluna, your wildlife experience  continues with an afternoon tour observing the native fauna that thrive in this environment. You will see three species of kangaroos, emus and birds, then returning to Kangaluna after sunset drinks at Kolay Mirica Rocks (organ pipe formations).

Overnight at Kangaluna Camp.

Day 2: Lake Gairdner & Gawler Ranges wildlife

see the Australian wildlife run & bound around you
Visit an ochre pit, once used by the indigeneous people of this area, on the morning drive to spectacular Lake Gairdner, which is like a piece of Antarctica, with its glistening white salt pan set in the stark red landscape.

Here you can walk on the surface of the lake and look north to see the endless white plain with striking red surrounds  and take in the stunning scenery with its vibrant colours and reflections. The red dunes along the lake are covered with flowers in spring, have unique vegetation and bird life and  yield many animal tracks. Photo opportunities are endless.

Experience a changing landscape with cigar shaped volcanic rock formations and an abundance of wildlife. As we drive through the ancient outback range back to Kangaluna Camp you will see Red, Western Grey and Euro kangaroos and emus . After dinner you can enjoy star gazing with a computerised telescope. Overnight at Kangaluna Camp.

Day 3: Swim with the Sea Lions

the puppies of the sea

Early morning drive to Baird Bay where we board the boat for an unforgettable wildlife experience. On the 5 kilometre journey to a lagoon at Jones Island near Cape Radstock, (at 160 metres it is one of the highest sheer points on the southern coast of Australia), you can watch Bottlenose dolphins ride the bow wave of the boat and later join these magnificent mammals in shallow water.

Cross the bay to visit a resident colony of rare Australian sea lions and experience playing face to face with these agile and friendly mammals as we wade in protected shallow lagoons. You may very well be smooched by these animals. After lunch on the beach we leave Baird Bay, visit Venus Bay and Elliston while enjoying the magnificent coastal scenery on your return to Port Lincoln.

Depart for Adelaide on the 18:20 flight with Qantas Airlines. (BL)
